Remodeling and extension of a typical 1959 ranch. The owners loved the location but needed more space and didn’t care for low ceilings and dark rooms typical for ranch houses.

 

More height and light was achieved by adding a new, taller structure, perpendicular to the house. It created a central gathering space with adjacent rooms opening to it and a great hall for jazz concerts, which the owners often host in their home.
